Terms of service

Payments

We accept cash, eftpos and all major credit cards except Amex.

We also accept wire bank transfers, which will have to clear before the item is sent out if you are purchasing online. Please contact us to arrange a wire payment.

If you are paying by credit card, the shipping and billing information need to match. This is in order to protect our customers and ourselves from fraudulent activity.

Warranty & Repairs

Warranty

Each item is guaranteed genuine and as described. A certificate of authenticity and a valuation for insurance purposes will be provided with each item purchased. We endeavour to describe each piece as accurately as possible, and provide a condition summary.

Antique & Estate Jewellery

Please remember that antique or vintage jewellery pieces are pre-owned, and therefore second (or third or fourth...) hand. We see this as part of their charm - they have been around for a long time and usually developed a patina that we keep where possible. The pieces are sold “as-isˮ. Each piece is checked over in-house before listing to insure its integrity for the years to come.

Repairs

Resizing: At the time of purchase of a ring, Nicholas Alexander Jewellers will provide one complementary re-size, where possible, to fit the purchaser. Any other re-sizing or alterations for any purchase will be at the cost of the purchaser, and at the discretion of Nicholas Alexander Jewellers.

Every piece is assessed by our team before work begins. We'll provide a detailed no obligation quote explaining what needs doing and any condition concerns we notice.

What we can't guarantee:

  • Pre-existing damage to stones or metals that becomes apparent during repair
  • Gemstones that loosen during necessary repair work
  • Changes to treated stones if treatments weren't disclosed upfron
  • Issues arising from normal wear, accidents, or misuse after repair

All repair work comes with our 12-month workmanship guarantee covering the specific repair carried out.

Collection of repaired Items

We will contact you as soon as your jewellery is ready to collect. Please make every attempt to collect your repaired jewellery as soon as you can. Completed items left with us for more than two months may need to be sold at public auction to recover our costs. Before any sale occurs, we will:

  • Give you one week's written notice to your last known address
  • Include details of what we're owed, a description of your item, and when/where the sale will take place

If your item is sold:

The proceeds cover our advertising costs, sale expenses, and outstanding repair charges.

Any remaining funds are held by the local District Court for you to collect. We'd much rather return your restored piece to you than go through this process. If you're having difficulty collecting your item, please contact us – we're happy to discuss alternatives.

This process follows requirements under New Zealand's Contract and Commercial Law Act.
